New Spin View and Multi-Cam features allows creators to share first-person footage from Ray-Ban Meta, Oakley Meta and Meta Glasses in more dynamic ways
Instagram has launched new Story creation tools specifically for its Meta smart glasses video content, including the new feature Spin View that allows users to pan around the captured scene through their phone. Instead of just seeing the created clip, the user can rotate their phone to see more of what was recorded through the glasses. Instagram said the format is meant to give followers a more immersive sense of a creator’s actual surroundings and perspective in the moment.
Combining Two Viewpoints at Once
The platform is also introducing Multi-Cam, which merges footage recorded at the same time on smart glasses and a smartphone into one synchronised Story. Meta said the clips align automatically, letting creators present both a first-person view through the glasses and a traditional on-camera shot from their phone within the same post — a format suited to more layered storytelling.
Editing Tools Built for Glasses Footage
Instagram is also adding various native editing tools for creating and sharing wide-angle glasses content. Expand allows users to reframe their content to focus on specific items, Audio allows users to reduce background noises and improve voice quality, and Speed allows users to adjust the speed of their clips (slow down or speed up).
How to Access the Features
The tools live directly inside Instagram’s Story editor. Any media captured via Ray-Ban Meta, Oakley Meta or Meta Glasses will show up in a user’s gallery marked with a glasses icon, which opens access to Spin View, Multi-Cam and the new editing controls.
Through this update, Meta will continue its plan to build a strong relationship between their hardware and social applications, allowing creators to create and share first-person, hands-free content without the need for a phone.
