Auckland House School students visit Himachal Pradesh University facilities to learn about AI, green energy, and research opportunities.
Students from Auckland House School, Shimla, visited the University Institute of Information Technology (UIIT) and the Green Energy Centre at Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) as part of an educational exposure programme.
During the visit, HPU Vice-Chancellor Professor Mahavir Singh interacted with the students and encouraged them to take a greater interest in technology, innovation, and sustainable development. The interaction focused on areas that are increasingly influencing education, employment, and research. Rather than limiting learning to textbooks and classrooms, the visit allowed students to see how academic institutions are working with emerging technologies and practical applications.
AI and green energy highlighted.
Professor Singh pointed to artificial intelligence (AI) and green energy as two areas with significant potential for the future. He said these fields could create new opportunities for employment, research and technological development.
The HPU Vice-Chancellor also encouraged students to consider higher education and research as they plan their academic careers. His interaction with the schoolchildren included discussions about their educational experiences and interests. The focus on green energy comes at a time when sustainable technologies are becoming increasingly important across industries. Similarly, AI is expanding into sectors ranging from education and healthcare to manufacturing and financial services, making technology-related skills increasingly relevant for young learners.
Learning beyond the classroom.
The university visit also underlined the role of practical education in helping students understand subjects beyond theoretical lessons.
