Reports suggest a bigger debut than expected for Apple’s first foldable device, with pricing tipped to start near $2,500
Apple is gearing up for a larger-than-anticipated rollout of its first foldable iPhone, reportedly raising production targets for the rumoured iPhone Ultra as the device’s launch draws closer. According to a report from Nikkei Asia, Apple has told its suppliers to prepare for manufacturing around 10 million units of the foldable iPhone Ultra, a notable jump from earlier projections that had pegged the number at 7 million to 8 million devices.
Growing confidence in demand
An article published by 9to5Mac states that Apple plans to increase its manufacturing of its first foldable variant of the smartphone due to the rising demand for the same in the market. The news suggests that Apple might have positioned iPhone Ultra not just as a limited edition smartphone but as a mass manufactured product.
A premium price tag
With regard to the price of the foldable device, sources speculate that iPhone Ultra would be sold at a price range of about $2,500 or around Rs.2,38,336, in case of India. If these speculations are true, then iPhone Ultra would become Apple’s most expensive smartphone launch.
What it means
If all these speculations hold true, the launch of the iPhone Ultra will mark the entry of the company into the foldable products market and will prove to be one of the biggest product releases for the company in the recent years, where Apple will have to check the performance of the product in the market.
