Woman-led tech startups in India to see a boom with new accelerator programme

BMU and Ideabaaz launch 12-week initiative focused on mentorship, funding readiness, and industry access.

As India’s startup ecosystem continues to grow and evolve, efforts to improve gender diversity in entrepreneurship are gaining momentum. In a recent development, BML Munjal University (BMU) and startup platform Ideabaazhave launched a dedicated accelerator programme designed to support women-led technology startups and help them scale their businesses.

The initiative, titled Women in Tech Accelerator Program, is a 12-week programme that seeks to address some of the most common challenges faced by women entrepreneurs, including limited access to capital, mentorship opportunities, industry networks, and growth resources.

New accelerator programme for supporting women-led tech startups.

Despite increasing participation by women in India’s startup landscape, many founders continue to encounter structural barriers when seeking funding and market access. Industry reports have repeatedly highlighted the funding gap between male-led and women-led ventures, particularly in technology-driven sectors. The newly launched accelerator aims to bridge this gap by offering structured mentorship, business development guidance, investor readiness training, and opportunities to connect with industry experts. The programme will initially support a select cohort of women-led startups working across emerging sectors such as artificial intelligence, DeepTech, climate technology, healthcare, robotics, EdTech, sustainability, and social innovation.

A key focus of the accelerator is helping startups prepare for fundraising and long-term growth. Participants will receive support in refining business models, strengthening market strategies, improving operational capabilities, and developing investor pitches. The programme is designed to help founders transition from early-stage innovation to scalable and sustainable enterprises. In addition to mentorship and training, selected entrepreneurs may also gain national visibility through Ideabaaz, providing an opportunity to showcase their ventures before investors, industry leaders, and a wider audience.

Growing focus on women entrepreneurship.

The launch reflects a broader trend across India’s startup ecosystem, where incubators, universities, government agencies, and private organisations are increasingly creating targeted programmes for women founders. Similar initiatives in fintech, innovation, and deep-tech sectors have emerged in recent months, highlighting a growing recognition of the need for more inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystems.

As India’s technology sector continues to expand, programmes focused on empowering women entrepreneurs could play a significant role in unlocking innovation, creating jobs, and driving sustainable economic growth. The latest accelerator represents another step towards ensuring that more women-led startups have access to the resources and networks needed to compete and thrive in an increasingly competitive market.
