Industrial technology deal expands AMETEK’s portfolio across specialized scientific and industrial markets.
AMETEK has now completed its acquisition of a portfolio of instrumentation businesses from Indicator, LLC, in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately $5 billion. The US-based industrial technology company announced the completion on Wednesday, making the closing of one of its larger strategic acquisitions in recent years.
The acquired businesses, collectively referred to as Indicor Instrumentation, develop and manufacture equipment and technologies used in industrial and scientific applications. Their products serve several specialized markets, including research, power, aerospace, and defence, food and beverage, energy, and general industrial operations.
Acquisition adds to AMETEK’s revenue base.
Indicor Instrumentation generated approximately $1.1 billion in annual sales before the transaction. AMETEK expects the acquired operations to contribute about $350 million to its 2026 sales and be modestly accretive to adjusted earnings for the year.
The businesses will now be incorporated into AMETEK’s Electronic Instruments Group (EIG) and Electromechanical Group (EMG). The allocation will depend on the products and markets each business serves.
Focus on recurring industrial revenue.
A significant feature of the acquisition is the acquired companies’ exposure to recurring revenue. AMETEK said the portfolio includes consumables, services and aftermarket support, providing revenue streams beyond the initial sale of equipment.
According to AMETEK’s acquisition presentation, around half of Indicor Instrumentation’s revenue mix was associated with aftermarket activities. The businesses also cover a range of mission-critical applications where testing, measurement, monitoring and control equipment play an important role. AMETEK had announced the proposed transaction in May 2026, with plans to finance the purchase through borrowings under its existing credit facility and new debt issuance. The acquisition was valued at roughly $5 billion when announced.
With the transaction now completed, attention will shift towards integrating the acquired businesses into AMETEK’s existing operations. The company expects the deal to strengthen its position in specialized industrial technology markets while adding scale across its instrumentation portfolio.
