Turning to AI agents, Bengaluru startupKusho AI aims to automate software testing

The software testing startup is using AI to help engineering teams detect bugs, maintain tests, and reduce manual quality-assurance work.

As software development cycles accelerate, testing has become an increasing challenge for engineering teams. Bengaluru-based Kusho AI is addressing that problem with AI agents designed for automating software testing and maintenance across APIs, web applications, and mobile products.

Founded in 2023 by Abhishek Saikia and SourabhGawande, Kusho AI was created around a relatively straightforward problem: software doesn’t remain static once it’s launched. New features, code changes, and 3rd-party integrations can introduce bugs or break existing workflows, requiring testing to be repeated regularly. The startup uses AI agents to generate and execute tests, identify potential problems, and update tests as applications change.

How does Kusho AI’s AI testing platform work?

The platform first analyses a software environment and identifies scenarios that require testing. It can then generate tests, run them and flag issues for engineering teams. Testing can take place before code is merged, during a release and after deployment. The system also monitors applications for anomalies and breaking changes and adjusts tests as the underlying software evolves.

This approach aims to reduce one of the recurring problems in software quality assurance: maintaining large numbers of tests as applications become more complex. Kusho AI uses an agent-based orchestration layer rather than depending on a single AI model. According to the company, different models can be used for different testing requirements, including APIs and user interfaces.

Startup builds enterprise customer base.

Kusho AI says it has generated and executed nearly 10 million tests and has more than 5,200 customers, including Paytm, Ola Electric, HCL, Michelin, HP, Razorpay, and Roche. Its free platform is also used by developers and QA professionals, helping the company follow a product-led growth model.

The startup has raised $600,000 in pre-seed funding, led by Antler India with participation from Blume Founders Fund, UpSparks Capital and angel investors. It is also targeting industries where software reliability is particularly important, including banking, financial services, logistics and healthcare technology.

Kusho AI’s expansion comes as AI-powered software testing becomes an increasingly important part of the broader enterprise technology market. Its challenge will be to demonstrate that automated testing can remain reliable as applications, regulations and business requirements change. For the Bengaluru startup, the broader objective is to automate software maintenance while allowing engineers to spend more time developing products rather than repeatedly managing testing.
