The startup raised $15 million in seed capital from Y Combinator, Peak XV Partners and other VCs and will position itself as a “autopilot” platform for software engineering
Prasanna Sankar, co-founder and former chief technology officer of HR software company Rippling, has launched a new AI startup called Vorflux, securing $15 million in seed funding. The round was backed by Y Combinator, Peak XV Partners, Powerset, and Alliance, with angel investors Parker Conrad, Immad Akhund, and Balaji Srinivasan also participating.
Beyond a Coding Copilot
Vorflux positions itself as a cloud-based platform offering full “autopilot” capabilities for software engineering, rather than the assisted “copilot” model common among existing AI coding tools. According to the company, its AI agents can plan development work, build software, run tests, and open pull requests independently on dedicated machines.
Sankar drew a clear distinction in a LinkedIn post: “That’s copilot. You’re still flying the plane. Autopilot is the level above: set the destination, it flies the whole route.”
How the Platform Works
Sankar said Vorflux can configure different parts of an application — including frontend, backend, databases, and mobile services — before building and testing a requested feature. The platform reportedly validates its work in a browser and uses an AI model from a separate provider to review code before submitting a pull request.
Rather than building its own models, Vorflux draws on models from multiple providers, assigning tasks based on each model’s strengths, and applies a customisable “harness” that reflects an engineering team’s specific practices and workflows. These performance claims have not been independently verified.
A New Chapter After 0xPPL
The launch follows the shutdown of Sankar’s previous venture, crypto portfolio tracker 0xPPL, which the company wound down in June after its target market failed to materialise as expected. Sankar co-founded Rippling with Parker Conrad in 2016 and served as CTO until departing the role in 2020.
