The acquisition adds chip design, PCB engineering, embedded systems, and electronics manufacturing capabilities, giving HESEOS greater control over its entire product development chain
HESEOS Home Automation firm HESEOS Technology has said it is set to acquire an engineering and research and development (R&D) company based in Pune which started in 2019. The move would bring core engineering abilities in-house, reducing dependence on external tech suppliers for the company.
What the Acquisition Adds
The acquisition company has seven years of experience in chip design, PCB engineering, embedded systems, firmware development, electronics prototyping, testing and hardware manufacturing. This will help HESEOS design, engineer, and manufacture smart home products in India on its own, rather than relying on third-party manufacturers for hardware components.
With the acquisition, HESEOS is expected to improve its existing product portfolio, which includes smart switches, smart touch panels, smart door locks, video door phones, smart curtains, automated motor systems, energy management solutions, and AI-enabled intelligent building solutions.
The Strategic Logic
Irshad Bhatt, the founder and CEO, considered the acquisition one of the biggest achievements in the company’s journey. According to Bhatt, having in-house expertise in research, engineering, and manufacturing would grant greater control over intellectual property, product delivery schedules and product quality, which are increasingly important in a competitive smart home market in India.
India has been witnessing an increasing demand for IoT-based homes, smart living with the help of AI-based solutions and intelligent buildings for energy conservation. This market provides a significant competitive edge to companies that are able to innovate and integrate technology more seamlessly than their rivals that use multiple third-party suppliers.
The Broader Context
The acquisition is in line with the growing policy focus on domestic semiconductor and electronics manufacturing in India. With integrated hardware R&D and smart software platforms, HESEOS aims to contribute to India’s growing goal of becoming a leading global center for sophisticated electronics and smart infrastructure technology, initially in a product category that is gaining traction with Indian households from high-end to mainstream.
